WHAT TO EXPECT

When invited to the bedside, the intention is to offer a quiet presence through gentle singing, humming, and silence

Each visit follows the needs of the person and the situation.

The voice is used very softly, without amplification or instruments, with the intention of offering comfort, calm, and ease.

There may be simple songs, wordless melodies, gentle humming, or silence.

The singing is not a performance, but a quiet way of being alongside the person, just as they are.

Nothing is expected from the person who is listening.

The singing may be heard whilst awake, received in sleep, or simply be present in the background. Visits are often requested when someone is thought to be in the last days or weeks of life, although this can vary.

Duration of a visit – A visit usually lasts around 20–30 minutes.

Where visits take place – Visits may take place in hospices, hospitals, care homes, private homes, or other settings where end-of-life care is being given.

Area – Visits are currently offered in North West London and nearby areas.

Cost – There is no charge for visits.

If you wish, you may make a donation to the charity Marie Curie.
